Ukrainian Women’s Association Victoria (UWA Victoria) is a Ukrainian women’s organization in Victoria, Australia, which is part of the Ukrainian Women’s Association Australia (UWAA) and the World Federation of Ukrainian Women’s Organizations (WFUWO).
It was founded in 1949 by Ukrainian activists in exile Olga Fitko, S. Stebnytska and N. Davyda to preserve and promote Ukrainian cultural heritage, support the Ukrainian community and develop women’s leadership in Australia.
Ukrainian Women’s Association Victoria has five branches named after prominent Ukrainian women: Lesia Ukrainka Noble Park and Geelong Branches, Alla Horska Branch, Malva Branch and Olga Mack Branch.
The main activities of the Ukrainian Women’s Association Victoria include cultural and educational activities (exhibitions, concerts, festivals), charity (humanitarian aid, collections for Ukrainian soldiers, social initiatives), and community activities (representation of the Ukrainian community at international events, cooperation with Australian government and non-governmental organizations).
Ukrainian Women’s Association Victoria works to develop and promote the Ukrainian community in Australia, strengthen ties between Ukrainian communities around the world and is an important center of Ukrainian life on the Green Continent.
