The Ukrainian World Congress (UWC) was founded in 1967 in New York. UWC is an international coordinating body for Ukrainian communities in the diaspora, representing the interests of over 20 million Ukrainians. The UWC’s global network includes Ukrainian diaspora organizations from over 60 countries worldwide. The UWC promotes the consolidation of the global Ukrainian community, continues to build an international coalition supporting Ukraine, and strengthens the network of Ukrainian diaspora organizations.

The UWC is recognized by the United Nations Economic and Social Council as a non-governmental organization (NGO) with both special consultative status and the status of a participant in the international non-governmental organization in the Council of Europe.

The UWC implements its strategic priorities through a number of influential programs. These programs are carried out by Volunteer Committees, Councils, Commissions, and Working Groups of the UWC, with the support of offices in Toronto, Kyiv, Brussels, and New York.

Currently, the key priorities of the UWC are:

– Supporting Ukraine: The UWC collaborates with Ukrainian government bodies, international governments and organizations, the Ukrainian diaspora, and civil society to support Ukraine’s Euro-Atlantic aspirations and democratic reforms. The UWC works on developing and strengthening the network of Ukraine’s friends and supporters.

– Countering Russian Aggression: The UWC helps build an international coalition in support of Ukraine’s territorial integrity and sovereignty.

– Community Building: The UWC coordinates a network of organizations and communities in over 60 countries and promotes the preservation of Ukrainian national identity.
