The Shevchenko Scientific Society  in the US is a Ukrainian-American scientific institution founded in 1948 in New York State. The Society traces its intellectual and scientific lineage to the Shevchenko Scientific Society, founded in 1873 in Lviv. It was the leading Ukrainian Scientific Society in Ukraine until its dissolution by the Soviet authorities in 1939. The Society has chapters in Washington DC, Philadelphia, Chicago, Detroit and Boston. The headquarters is located in New York.

The NTSh maintains   a multivolume library and an archive that includes documents and materials reflecting the life of Ukrainians in postwar Europe (including the DP camps) and the life of the Ukrainian diaspora in the United States. The archival funds of the NTSh, in particular, contain the collections of P. Andrusiv, V. Barka, J. Hnizdovsky, S. Hordynsky, P. Karmansky, I. Kedryn-Rudnytsky, E. Kozak,  B. Lepky,  Y. Onatsky, I. Sonevytsky and other well-known public and cultural figures of Ukrainian diaspora. The archive also keeps very precious historical documents of Ukrainian Sich Riflemen (Sichovi Striltsi) as well as materials related to  various Ukrainian institutions in the diaspora.

NTSh publishes the Shevchenko Scientific Society Bulletin, which informs about the latest additions to the archive and library and some materials from the archival repository.
