The Central State Audiovisual and Electronic Archive is Ukraine’s largest treasure trove of retrospective documentary audiovisual information. A valuable segment of the archival collections are documents dedicated to Ukrainians abroad.

For instance, the archival photo library contains more than 800 photographs (1919-1938) related to the life of Ukrainian emigrants in the Czech Republic, Poland, and France. The film library contains documentaries and films from V. Avramenko’s collection that reflect Ukrainian communities’ socio-political, socio-economic, cultural, and religious life in the United States and Canada and represent the artist’s activities.

The collection includes both artistic recordings (vocal and instrumental works by B. Vesolovsky, pop songs and folk songs performed by A. Derbysh, L. Ishchuk, V. Mota, V. Luciv, I. Yarosevych, A. Chornodolska, M. Werbytska, opera parts performed by I. Matsyuk, N. Koshyts) and documentary (sound recordings of radio programs “Journal of Hope” by human rights activist N. Svitlychna, etc.)
