“Mimicry and Adaptation: Tracking the Influence of Traditional Ukrainian Clothing on Western Fashion” at Oseredok Ukrainian Cultural and Educational Centre is an exclusive look at a wide array of never-before-seen items from the Oseredok Museum collection, the Manitoba Crafts Museum, the Costume Museum of Canada, and from private textile and garment collections across Canada. The exhibition runs from November 14th, 2023-March 15th, 2024.
This exhibition aims to celebrate the rich and diverse history of Ukrainian fashion, showcasing the evolution of style, craftsmanship, and creativity that has marked this country’s contribution to the global fashion landscape. “Mimicry and Adaptation” presents a visual journey through the centuries, from traditional Ukrainian garments and embroidery to contemporary Western haute couture and ready-to-wear collections.
