“Let It Be” is an attitude toward life, the world, and art that grants freedom. This is how Oleksandr Yanovych, a Kyiv-based painter and sculptor, perceives it. He explores the realm of artistic self-expression, analyzes his discoveries, and shares his insights—such as the illusion of premature conclusions. What may currently seem like an achievement risks turning into futility, while what appears to be a defeat may, in time, become an opportunity or a valuable lesson.
Creative exploration (of freedom) is the best example of this principle. Never providing the artist with a sense of completeness, Oleksandr Yanovych’s paintings reflect his search for ways to convey his reflections as an artist and as a Ukrainian. His works are abstract but not entirely—figures and backgrounds stand out clearly in the compositions, yet the greatest depth lies in the colors and textures, contrasts and shadows, the dynamic or static nature of the arrangement. Much like human interaction, where most understanding comes to us through gestures and emotions rather than spoken words; or like books, where the space between the lines often speaks louder than the words themselves. Nevertheless, words matter too, and Yanovych often places part of his intention in the titles of his works.
The paths (of return) to Freedom are unknown and, therefore, challenging. They lead through mistakes, familiar to every creator. How does one know when to stop too soon, stop just in time, or not stop at all—risking overburdening, repainting, or abandoning the work altogether? These struggles are inevitable. An artist works through exhaustion, inspiration, courage, wonder, despair, anger, and joy—it all must be accepted. Allow events to unfold, and open your eyes and heart to every experience. Let it be—let things happen as the creator intends…
That is how it is meant to be!
