Kateryna Krychevska-Rosandich
Kateryna Krychevska-Rosandich was a Ukrainian-American artist, philanthropist, and a member of the famous Ukrainian artistic dynasty of the Krychevskys.
The artist was born on September 2, 1926, in Kyiv, in the family of artists Vasyl Jr. and Olena Krychevsky. She studied at the Kyiv Art School (1940-1941). In 1943, young Katrusia moved to Prague with her parents. She attended the Prague School of Art and Design (1943-1944) and the Heidelberg University (1946-1948). After the war, she stayed with her family in the DP camp in Mannheim. She and her family permanently relocated to the United States in 1949. In 1959, Krychevska traveled to Europe, painting several dozen watercolor landscapes. In the same year, Krychevska opened her first solo exhibition in New York. In the 1950s and 1960s, the thematic, genre, and stylistic manner of her art were finally outlined. She followed the impressionist tradition and worked mainly in the genre of watercolor landscape.The artist has exhibited in Chicago, Cleveland, Philadelphia, Toronto, and other cities in North America.
In 1993, the artist visited Kyiv and Poltava. Kateryna Krychevska-Rosandich died on November 3, 2021 in Mountain View (California, USA).
Thanks to Krychevska’s tireless philanthropy in the 1990s and 2000s, the Ukrainian museum collections were replenished with hundreds of works and archival documents of the famous dynasty.
