The article “Kateryna Krychevska-Rosandich. Дороги. Straßen. Roads” provides a comprehensive exploration of the life and artistic journey of Ukrainian-American artist and patron Kateryna Krychevska-Rosandich (1926-2021), a representative of the well-known Krychevsky dynasty. The research encompasses three periods of the artist’s career: early Ukrainian (pre-1943), European (1943-1949), and American (1949-2021). Oksana Pidsukha analyzes the development of the artist’s individual style, characterized as Impressionistic, and emphasizes the artist’s commitment to the Ukrainian national tradition throughout her long creative life in emigration. The article also draws attention to the technical aspects of Krychevska-Rosandich’s watercolor landscapes and periodizes her artistic output.

The art historian explores the familial and creative environment that surrounded the artist and profoundly influenced her. Additionally, the article delves into Kateryna Krychevska-Rosandich’s exhibition activities in the United States and Canada. The author describes the artist’s visits to Ukraine in 1993 and depicts the artist’s significant contribution of hundreds of artworks and archival documents from the Krychevsky dynasty to Ukrainian museums.

The article is divided into seven sections: “Культурні коди” (Cultural Codes), “Воєнні університети” (War Universities), “Професійні студії та мистецький злет” (Professional Studies and Artistic Rise), “Дощові калюжі” (Rain Puddles), “Спомини про Україну” (Memories of Ukraine), “Повернення в Україну” (Return to Ukraine), and “Післямова” (Afterword). The research is based on published memoirs of the Ukrainian artist, her interviews conducted by the author of the article in 2015 in California (USA), documents from Krychevska-Rosandich`s personal archive, as well as photographs from the collections of the Museum of  Ukrainian Diaspora.
