“To truly hear oneself, one requires silent days…
To dissolve into space and time, to not count the days or heed the hours, to remain unaware of the shifts in poles, and to be silent but attentive. Finally, grant oneself the luxury of solitude and become one with the coolness of the morning. Dissolve into the hazy lines of the evening, inhale the moist air after the rain, squint your eyes against the August sun, and feel the peace in your soul and heart.
Such a simple motif, so familiar it verges on banality, devoid of secret symbols and meanings, without agitation or propaganda, and free from the harsh relevance of the present. It’s merely a house by a lake, trees reflecting in the water, isolated buildings by the road, a streetlamp, distant lights on the horizon, occasionally disrupted by the carefree figure of a child.
My landscapes are painted beneath the open sky because plein-air painting never loses relevance. It’s the only way to enter a particular spatial trance, to create a dialogue between paint and light, and to sense the music on the canvas.
These delicate, intimate landscapes hold the viewer amidst the frantic pace of life and the chaos of the approaching day. One feels the tranquility with a hint of gentle autumn melancholy, a healing balm for the soul that imbues it with the strength to carry on…”
